How to recognise damaged hair — and how silk prevents it

Damaged hair isn't always obvious. It starts subtly: less shine, ends that split sooner, hair that takes half an hour every morning. The cause is rarely one big mistake — it's the accumulation of small frictions, every day and every night.
The five signals
Split ends creeping past the last centimetre. Frizz that serum won't tame. Breakage mid-length rather than at the tips. Stretchy hair that doesn't spring back. And shine that only returns after a mask — gone again by the next day.
What happens at night
During sleep, your hair rubs against the pillow thousands of times. On cotton, that lifts the cuticle layer. Curls, extensions or coloured hair lose definition and moisture night after night — invisibly, but cumulatively.
The silk solution
A silk bonnet keeps hair gathered without pinching; its smooth interior eliminates friction entirely. A silk pillowcase does the same for those who won't wear a bonnet. Together they're the only two 'products' that work while you sleep.
Realistic expectations
Silk doesn't repair existing damage — nothing does, except scissors. What it does do: prevent new damage. The length you grow now arrives intact. Give it eight to twelve weeks and the difference is visible in the mirror, not just in your head.
