The best pillowcase for your hair — why silk wins

If you wake up every morning with frizz, static or breakage at the ends, you probably look for answers in haircare products. But seven to eight hours a night, your hair rests on a surface — and that surface matters more than any mask or oil.

Cotton: the invisible sander

Cotton is woven from short fibres and feels soft to the hand, but is rough at a microscopic scale. Every head movement creates friction: the hair's cuticles are lifted, moisture is drawn out, curls lose their definition. Repeat that three hundred nights a year.

Satin is not silk

Satin is a weave, not a material — usually polyester. It glides, but doesn't breathe and traps heat. Mulberry silk combines both: a smooth, protein-rich surface that drastically reduces friction and regulates temperature.

What 22 momme silk actually does

Hair glides instead of dragging. Cuticles stay closed, keeping moisture in the fibre rather than in the pillow. Curly hair keeps its pattern; styled hair survives the night. After a few weeks: less breakage, less frizz, less morning repair.

Our pillowcases are 22 momme Mulberry silk, OEKO-TEX® certified, with a hidden zip so the pillow never slips out. Pair with a silk bonnet to give curls or treated hair maximum protection.
