The atelier — why we work in Como
3 min read · Maison Lumet

Como has weighed silk since the fifteenth century. The Lombard hills around the lake were once covered in mulberry trees — food for the silkworms that made the region wealthy. Today, a handful of weavers still carry the craft on, unchanged.
We work with one of those ateliers. The Mulberry silk is woven in 22 momme, OEKO-TEX® certified, free of chemical bleaches. Buttons are set one by one. Hems double-stitched. Labels hand-sewn.
This isn't an efficiency story. It's more expensive and slower than producing elsewhere. But it's the difference between a pyjama you wear for a season and one you still find in your wardrobe ten years later — with the same glow.
